Leslie P. Poole
Mr. Poole practices in the areas of commercial litigation and transactions, business law, personal injury, insurance coverage, real estate litigation, and domestic relations. Mr. Poole has litigated over 50 jury trials in State and Federal Courts in Illinois and Wisconsin. His litigation practice includes commercial and complex litigation, securities, contracts, Uniform Commercial Code, general business law, with a focus on all aspects of personal injury and insurance coverage. Past experience also includes product liability, medical malpractice, bankruptcy, domestic relation, as well as criminal matters. Mr. Poole has served as lead counsel in a 23-day multi-million dollar antitrust suit between two major suppliers of commercial pumping equipment to steel mills and has successfully defended a specific performance action in a leading land trust case in Illinois.
Recent accomplishments of Mr. Poole’s have included:
- Lead trial counsel in securing a judgment in excess of $2 million on behalf of a client who suffered a breach of her employment contract and defamation by her former employer;
- Settlement of a DuPage County personal injury action in excess of $900,000.00 on behalf of a plaintiff who suffered a right femur fracture;
- Successful defense for a claim against over $2 million in shares of stock related to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) restructuring and series of mergers whereby it “demutualized” and went from being a member-owned, non-stock company to being a wholly-owned subsidiary of a new, publicly held company “CME Holdings” owned by its shareholders;
- Representation of School Board Superinten-
dent before the School Board to enable continued employment by the School District.
Mr. Poole is highly experienced and has a proven track record in all aspects of personal injury, including: automobile collisions, trucking accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, UM/UIM (uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage), tort and insurance coverage.
Transactional practice focuses on corporate financing and restructuring, buy/sell agreements, asset purchase agreements, contracting, labor relations, restrictive covenants, Uniform Commercial Code issues, security interests and commercial real estate procurement and development. Mr. Poole also represents clients in arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings before the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). Mr. Poole has successfully litigated FINRA cases around the country obtaining restitution on behalf of clients who had their funds unsuitably invested.
Mr. Poole maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. He is a member of Tau Epsilon Rho and past Vice President and Treasurer of Delta Sigma Pi. Mr. Poole received his B.A. in Economics from Loyola University of Chicago in 1976, and his J.D. from Northern Illinois University in 1980.
