Christina Mesco
Christina Hynes Mesco practices in the areas of employment law, business litigation, commercial transactions, and securities litigation.
Ms. Hynes Mesco has reviewed and negotiated numerous separation agreements for clients separating from employers such as Walgreen's, McDonald's, PepsiCo, Harris Bank, and others. She obtains increased severance benefits and valuable language amendments for her clients. Ms. Hynes Mesco frequently reviews and negotiates employment agreements, retention agreements, consulting agreements, and other employment-related documents. She also coaches clients in navigating and responding to difficult employment situations, and in obtaining unemployment, COBRA, disability, and other employee benefits.
Ms. Hynes Mesco represents clients before federal, state, and local agencies and tribunals in discrimination claims, Sarbanes-Oxley Whistleblower claims, and employment and business-related claims in both state and federal court.
Ms. Hynes Mesco was recently part of a trial team that secured a judgment of more than $2 million on behalf of a client who suffered a breach of her employment agreement and defamation by her former employer. Ms. Hynes Mesco also recently secured a judgment on behalf of her client, a registered representative, against a broker-dealer for its failure to pay commissions earned and owing.
Ms. Hynes Mesco assists clients in creating corporations and LLCs to enable them to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors while benefiting from limited liability. She also consults with employers as well; offering critical advice on ways to limit liability when effecting business and employment decisions.
Ms. Hynes Mesco received her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, with an emphasis in trial advocacy. While at Loyola, she received the Leadership and Service Award and was involved in numerous scholastic activities. Ms. Hynes Mesco was Loyola's representative to the American Bar Association, served as representative and secretary for the Student Bar Association, assisted instruction in legal writing, and worked as an editor for the Public Interest Law Reporter. She served as a member of Loyola's ABA Negotiation Competition Team and placed as a regional finalist in the ABA Client Counseling Competition. Ms. Hynes Mesco is a 2004 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Honors College in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to joining The Bellows Law Group, P.C., she worked as a law clerk for the City of Chicago Department of Law. Ms. Hynes Mesco is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Ms. Hynes Mesco is chair of a suburban legal clinic through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services that caters to homeless and underserved clientele.
